BROWNSVILLE
PAN AMERICAN ROUND TABLE II
History
What followings is an excerpt from The Pan American Round Table, Lois Terry Marchbanks, Avon Behren Press, 1983, (pp. 119-120).
Pan American Round Table II of Brownsville, Texas was founded in December, 1942 by Mrs. George W. "Mother" Johnson who was a close personal friend of Florence Terry Griswold.
One of the prerequisites of Table II was that members must have been employees of Pan American Airways which had its home office in Brownsville, this requirement for membership was dropped.
Today the membership of this Table is made up of professional, working women. Dinner meetings are held on the third Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. from September through May. Each member is responsible for a program on the country she represents. The Christmas Anniversary program and the Pan American Day program are the responsibility of the Program Chairman.
A number of present members have been active in the organization for many years. Mrs. Eulalie Todd, a charter member and the first director, is still active and does a magnificent job as the Dinner Chairman. Miss Eva Valdez, Mrs. Kaytee Richmond and Mrs. Annalee Bennett are charter members and participate with enthusiasm in all the activities of the organization.
The members of Table II represent a well educated, intellectual group of women who are sincerely interested in the principles of Pan Americanism and who are loyal to the aims and goals set forth by Florence Terry Griswold.
Update 9/2001

Brownsville II gives two scholarships a year from $250 to $300. The scholarship is given to an undergraduate student who has demonstrated a need for the help and who has satisfactorily completed a year or more of college.
