DALLAS PAN AMERICAN ROUND TABLE III
History

What follows is an excerpt from The Pan American Round Table, Lois Terry Marchbanks, Avon Behren Press, 1983, (pp. 122).

Pan American Round Table III of Dallas, Texas was initiated in 1949-50 as a junior Table formed of the daughters and granddaughters of the members of Dallas Tables I & II. Their directors were Mrs. S.J. Vaughn and Mrs. David Yarbrough. Their first aim was to learn as much as they could about Latin America and to refresh their knowledge of high school and college Spanish language. They acted as hostesses to wives of young men studying comparative law at Southern Methodist University and also assisted the Dallas Committee for Foreign Visitors. Their activities and projects have included classes to learn Spanish; study of history, art, literature, music, architecture and archeology of the Americas; a fund raising activity at Christmas for scholarships awarded to Latin American girls studying in Dallas; providing folklore dances for school and civic programs. The group has grown from the initial 22 members to a maximum of sixty members. The meetings are held in private homes and may include brunch or a luncheon.
