WHEN ALL ARE IN PLACE:

It is an honor and a pleasure for me to conduct your installation as the officers who will lead the Pan American Round Tables of Texas to the doorway of the 21st century for the years 1997-99.

Your positions on the board and your roles can be defined and described by one or two words that easily come to mind.

The Director - the leader

The four Associate Directors - extra arms of leadership

Recording Secretary – reporter

Treasurer - the fiscal conscience

Historian - guardian of the past

Parliamentarian - monitor of the rules

Scholarship Chairman - builder of bridges to the future

But there are many other words which describe qualities of character, talent and style which are desirable – indeed necessary – if each of you is to best serve our Pan American Round Table organization and continue to fulfill Florence Terry Griswold's original purpose and dream.

DISTRIBUTE AND PLACE IN EACH OFFICER'S HANDS, A PACKET OF "LETRAS" – alphabets – FOR HER TO HOLD WHILE YOU SPEAK.

Each of you is holding a packet of letters – letters of the alphabet, which are the ingredients of words. But words are just words and meaningless until they are translated into action and put to use.

Therefore, I charge each of you, the duly elected officers for 1997-1999, to listen carefully to the words, which I will recite. I urge you to keep these words in your minds and hearts as you represent all your Texas Pan American sisters.

You hold in your hands all the words in the world. Take these ingredients; mix them up; stir them well; use those words I have just recited or create any words you choose to reflect your leadership. It's up to you!

Congratulations and good luck – buena suerte

One for all and all for one – Una para todas y todas para una

Audreyjane Castro

State Director, 1993-95

NOTE: Cans of vegetable alphabet soup can be substituted for the packets of American Beauty alphabet "letras" if they are not available in your grocery store. Or try children's blocks or other items, which represent individual letters.
